I had the opportunity to do a quick girls trip with my sister-in-law while Matt was out of town for a Rugby game. Below is a summary of our trip highlights and places to add to your bucket-list! Even though this was not first trip to NYC, there is always so much to see, to eat, and to do!
Check out our vlog here.
As a loyal Hyatt couple, it was no brainer for us to stay at a Hyatt.
Location: This hotel was located in the theatre district and was centralized to all the sights and attractions. It was fairly quiet and we got a free upgrade to a higher floor.
Room: The beds were comfy, room décor was updated along with an Bluetooth in-room speaker that came in convenience for getting ready sessions and an Nespresso machine for coffee pick-me-ups throughout our stay.
Amenities: Free breakfast daily included with our Hyatt Globalist benefits- including an entrée, hot and cold beverage. We opted to do room-service the first night to save time prior to our Soulcycle class and got to dine-in at the Parker restaurant in the hotel for the second morning. Think swanky, greenery vibes with jazzy ambiance and velvet seating. The food was beautiful in presentation and equal in taste.
Cost: Matthew used 58,000 points and a Guest of Honor award to grant me the free stay for two night and Globalist privileges which included the 4pm late checkout, free breakfast above, and two water bottles per day. The hotel would have cost around $1,464.33 + $200 for the two free breakfasts, giving us a huge value for these points.
Pietro Nolita: (Italian): If you love pink and Italian food, this place is a dream. Tucked in the lower stairs in the neighborhood of Nolita, this intimate restaurant serves freshly made pasta daily. The meatballs were a great appetizer and generous portions as well.
Mei Lai Wah (Chinatown): Known for their famous roast pork pinapple bun, this hong kong bakery is definitey as must-go if you are a fan of dim sum! Just be prepared to wait in line as this place often gets busy on weekends.
Xi’An Famous Foods (Chinatown): I love spicy foods and this place hit that spot with their hand-pulled noodles.
Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream (Greenwich Village): Such interesting ice-cream flavors from vanilla to fruity to sorbet and nutty. A nice post-meal dessert place.
Afternoon Tea at Blue Box Café at Tiffany’s (Midtown): Finally checking this off my bucket list- you can fulfill your dreams and have breakfast or tea at Tiffany’s. Everything about this place is beautiful from the hundreds of Tiffany blue boxes hanging on the ceilings to the delicate eats in the afternoon tea service. The scones were the best scones I’ve ever had at any tea services.
See a show in Broadway (Theatre District): We saw The Great Gatsby, a new release this year and it was an amazing production. From the talented performers to the opulent sets, special effects, and high-tech production- if you are a fan of music and dance- definitely add this to your bucket list!
Stroll around the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir (Central Park): Located more in the upper section of central park, this is a beautiful reservoir that is a 1.5 mile loop surrounded by cherry blossom trees, wildlife- turtles and geese. It also has beautiful backdrops of the city high-rises and a serene place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
